Osteoblast differentiation is functionally associated with decreased AMP kinase activity.

29 Nov 2009 Osteoblasts, originating from mesenchymal stem cells, play a pivotal role in bone formation and mineralization. Several transcription factors including runt-related transcription factor 2 (Runx2) have been reported to be essential for osteoblast ... Read more...

Feeder-free derivation of induced pluripotent stem cells from adult human adipose stem cells.

6 Sep 2009 Ectopic expression of transcription factors can reprogram somatic cells to a pluripotent state. However, most of the studies used skin fibroblasts as the starting population for reprogramming, which usually take weeks for expansion from a single ... Read more...

Expansion and characterization of human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells cultured on fragmin/protamine microparticle-coated matrix with fibroblast growth factor-2 in low serum medium.

30 Aug 2009 Fragmin/protamine microparticles (F/P MPs) can be stably coated onto plastic surfaces. A capability of F/P MP-coated plates was investigated to immobilize fibroblast growth factor (FGF)-2 as a substratum to expand human bone marrow-derived ... Read more...
