Effect of adipose tissue on the sexual dimorphism in metabolic flexibility.

30 Oct 2009 Metabolic flexibility is the ability to transition between fat oxidation (fasting state) and glucose oxidation (fed state). We hypothesized that adipose tissue inflammation and lipid metabolism contribute to sexual dimorphism in metabolic ... Read more...

HMGA2-NFIB fusion in a pediatric intramuscular lipoma: a novel case of NFIB alteration in a large deep-seated adipocytic tumor.

30 Oct 2009 Lipomas are frequently characterized by aberrations of the 12q13 approximately q15 chromosomal region and often by rearrangements of the HMGA2 gene. These rearrangements include the formation of chimeric genes that fuse the 5' region of HMGA2 with a ... Read more...

High fat and highly thermolyzed fat diets promote insulin resistance and increase DNA damage in rats.

30 Oct 2009 Many studies have demonstrated that DNA damage may be associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its complications. The goal of this study was to evaluate the effects of the potential relationship between fat (thermolyzed) intake, glucose ... Read more...
