Adipose Tissue
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Adipose Tissue'Specialized connective tissue composed of fat cells (ADIPOCYTES). It is the site of stored FATS, usually in the form of TRIGLYCERIDES. In mammals, there are two types of adipose tissue, the WHITE FAT and the BROWN FAT. Their relative distributions vary in different species with most adipose tissue being white. Common names: Adipose Tissue; Tissue, Adipose; Fatty Tissue; Tissue, Fatty; Fat Pad; Fat Pads; Pad, Fat; Pads, Fat; Body Fat |

Effect of adipose tissue on the sexual dimorphism in metabolic flexibility.
30 Oct 2009
Metabolic flexibility is the ability to transition between fat oxidation (fasting state) and glucose oxidation (fed state). We hypothesized that adipose tissue inflammation and lipid metabolism contribute to sexual dimorphism in metabolic ... Read more...

Lipomas are frequently characterized by aberrations of the 12q13 approximately q15 chromosomal region and often by rearrangements of the HMGA2 gene. These rearrangements include the formation of chimeric genes that fuse the 5' region of HMGA2 with a ... Read more...

Many studies have demonstrated that DNA damage may be associated with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and its complications. The goal of this study was to evaluate the effects of the potential relationship between fat (thermolyzed) intake, glucose ... Read more...
