Amnesia - Drug therapy
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Amnesia'Pathologic partial or complete loss of the ability to recall past experiences (AMNESIA, RETROGRADE) or to form new memories (AMNESIA, ANTEROGRADE). This condition may be of organic or psychologic origin. Organic forms of amnesia are usually associated with dysfunction of the DIENCEPHALON or HIPPOCAMPUS. Brain targeting of nerve growth factor using poly(butyl cyanoacrylate) nanoparticles.
30 Aug 2009
The nerve growth factor (NGF) is essential for the survival of both peripheral ganglion cells and central cholinergic neurons in the basal forebrain. The accelerated loss of central cholinergic neurons during Alzheimer's disease may be a determinant ... Read more...

We examined anti-amnesic activity of the methanolic extract of Cornus officinalis fruits (COT) and a major constituent, loganin using scopolamine-induced (1 mg/kg body weight, s.c.) amnesic mice with both passive avoidance and the Morris water maze ... Read more...
22 Apr 2009
Conjugation of the phenol derived from rivastigmine with amphetamines gave access to novel carbamate cholinesterase inhibitors. All compounds possessed increased affinity and selectivity for AChE compared to rivastigmine and were orally ... Read more...
