Definition of 'Amnesia'Pathologic partial or complete loss of the ability to recall past experiences (AMNESIA, RETROGRADE) or to form new memories (AMNESIA, ANTEROGRADE). This condition may be of organic or psychologic origin. Organic forms of amnesia are usually associated with dysfunction of the DIENCEPHALON or HIPPOCAMPUS. Medical decision-making capacity in mild cognitive impairment: a 3-year longitudinal study.
2 Nov 2008
OBJECTIVE: To investigate longitudinal change in the medical decision-making capacity (MDC) of patients with amnestic mild cognitive impairment (MCI) under different consent standards. METHODS: Eighty-eight healthy older controls and 116 patients ... Read more...

BACKGROUND: It has been reported that bilateral lesions of the basolateral amygdala complex (BLA) blocked propofol-induced amnesia of inhibitory avoidance (IA) training. Based on these results, the authors hypothesized that the amnesia effect of ... Read more...

OBJECTIVE: To assess the factual and delusional memories reported by intensive care unit survivors and its relationship with the development of Posttraumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSS). DESIGN: Multicenter observational cohort study. SETTING: Nine ... Read more...
