Aspirin - Research News and Information
Thursday, January 08, 2009
Definition of 'Aspirin'The prototypical analgesic used in the treatment of mild to moderate pain. It has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties and acts as an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase which results in the inhibition of the biosynthesis of prostaglandins. Aspirin also inhibits platelet aggregation and is used in the prevention of arterial and venous thrombosis. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p5) |

CONTEXT: Previous trials have investigated the effects of low-dose aspirin on primary prevention of cardiovascular events, but not in patients with type 2 diabetes. OBJECTIVE: To examine the efficacy of low-dose aspirin for the primary prevention ... Read more...
Cardiovascular outcomes after a change in prescription policy for clopidogrel.
21 Oct 2008
BACKGROUND: Drug-reimbursement policies may have an adverse effect on patient outcomes if they interfere with timely access to efficacious medications for acute medical conditions. Clopidogrel in combination with aspirin is the recommended standard ... Read more...
