Aspirin
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Aspirin'The prototypical analgesic used in the treatment of mild to moderate pain. It has anti-inflammatory and antipyretic properties and acts as an inhibitor of cyclooxygenase which results in the inhibition of the biosynthesis of prostaglandins. Aspirin also inhibits platelet aggregation and is used in the prevention of arterial and venous thrombosis. (From Martindale, The Extra Pharmacopoeia, 30th ed, p5) |

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the benefits and harms of low dose aspirin in people with diabetes and no cardiovascular disease. DESIGN: Meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials. DATA SOURCES: Medline (1966-November 2008), the Cochrane central register ... Read more...
Genetic effect of CysLTR2 polymorphisms on its mRNA synthesis and stabilization.

BACKGROUND: We previously demonstrated that single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and haplotypes were associated with aspirin hypersensitivity in asthmatics. We investigated the genetic effects of the SNPs and haplotypes on the expression of the ... Read more...
