Audiometry, Evoked Response - Research News and Information
Thursday, January 08, 2009
Definition of 'Audiometry, Evoked Response'A form of electrophysiologic audiometry in which an analog computer is included in the circuit to average out ongoing or spontaneous brain wave activity. A characteristic pattern of response to a sound stimulus may then become evident. Evoked response audiometry is known also as electric response audiometry. Common names: Audiometry, Evoked Response; Audiometry, Electroencephalic Response; Audiometries, Electroencephalic Response; Electroencephalic Response Audiometries; Electroencephalic Response Audiometry; Response Audiometries, Electroencephalic; Response Audiometry, Electroencephalic; Evoked Response Audiometry |
Perilymph osmolality modulates cochlear function.
30 Aug 2008
OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS: The cochlear amplifier is required for the exquisite sensitivity of mammalian hearing. Outer hair cells underlie the cochlear amplifier and they are unique in that they maintain an intracellular turgor pressure. Changing the ... Read more...
Changes in the DP-gram during the preterm and early postnatal period.

OBJECTIVES: To describe and define changes in the infant DP-gram during an age continuum from the preterm period through the first 6 mo of postnatal life. This information provides normative guidelines for audiologists or hearing screeners using ... Read more...
An exploratory look at pediatric cochlear implantation: is earliest always best?
30 Jul 2008
OBJECTIVES: Since the advent of cochlear implants, age at implantation has declined as investigators report greater benefit the younger a child is implanted. Infants younger than 12 mos currently are excluded from Food and Drug Administration ... Read more...
