Baclofen - Research News and Information
Thursday, January 08, 2009
Definition of 'Baclofen'A GAMMA-AMINOBUTYRIC ACID derivative that is a specific agonist at GABA-B receptors (RECEPTORS, GABA-B). It is used in the treatment of spasticity, especially that due to spinal cord damage. Its therapeutic effects result from actions at spinal and supraspinal sites, generally the reduction of excitatory transmission. Common names: Baclofen; PCP-GABA; beta-(p-Chlorophenyl)-gamma-aminobutyric Acid; Chlorophenyl GABA; GABA, Chlorophenyl; Baclophen; beta-(Aminomethyl)-4-chlorobenzenepropanoic Acid; Nu-Baclo; Nu Baclo; NuBaclo; Nu-Pharm Brand of Baclofen; Baclofen Nu-Pharm Brand; Nu Pharm Brand of Baclofen; PMS-Baclofen |
The impact of intrathecal baclofen on the natural history of scoliosis in cerebral palsy.
30 Aug 2008
BACKGROUND: Intrathecal baclofen (ITB) is an effective treatment of spasticity in patients with cerebral palsy. However, several recent reports have raised concerns that the treatment may be associated with a rapid progression of scoliosis. The ... Read more...
