Brain Injuries - Physiopathology
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Brain Injuries'Acute and chronic (see also BRAIN INJURIES, CHRONIC) injuries to the brain, including the cerebral hemispheres, CEREBELLUM, and BRAIN STEM. Clinical manifestations depend on the nature of injury. Diffuse trauma to the brain is frequently associated with DIFFUSE AXONAL INJURY or COMA, POST-TRAUMATIC. Localized injuries may be associated with NEUROBEHAVIORAL MANIFESTATIONS; HEMIPARESIS, or other focal neurologic deficits. |

OBJECT: Cerebral pressure autoregulation is an important neuroprotective mechanism that stabilizes cerebral blood flow when blood pressure (BP) changes. In this study the authors examined the association between autoregulation and clinical factors, ... Read more...
Reach-to-grasp interjoint coordination for moving object in children with hemiplegia.
30 Oct 2009
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate interjoint coordination in children with hemiplegia as they reach to grasp objects, in both static and dynamic conditions. An ad hoc robotic device was used to study the dynamic condition. DESIGN: Observational study. ... Read more...
Robot-mediated therapy for paretic upper limb of chronic patients following neurological injury.
30 Oct 2009
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effectiveness of robot-mediated therapy targeted at the motor recovery of the upper limb in chronic patients following neurological injury. DESIGN: Pre-post treatment study. SUBJECTS: Twenty patients were enrolled in the ... Read more...
