Research News and Information

Definition of 'Captopril'

A potent and specific inhibitor of PEPTIDYL-DIPEPTIDASE A. It blocks the conversion of ANGIOTENSIN I to ANGIOTENSIN II, a vasoconstrictor and important regulator of arterial blood pressure. Captopril acts to suppress the RENIN-ANGIOTENSIN SYSTEM and inhibits pressure responses to exogenous angiotensin.

Common names: Captopril; (S)-1-(3-Mercapto-2-methyl-1-oxopropyl)-L-proline; SQ-14,534; SQ 14,534; SQ14,534; SQ-14534; SQ 14534; SQ14534; SQ-14,225; SQ 14,225; SQ14,225; SQ-14225; SQ 14225; SQ14225; Capoten; Lopirin

Long-term stability of extemporaneously prepared captopril oral liquids in glass bottles.

29 Sep 2009 PURPOSE: The long-term stability of captopril in extemporaneously prepared oral liquids was studied. METHODS: Captopril solutions of 1 and 5 mg/mL were prepared in sterile water for irrigation with sorbitol, disodium edetate, and sodium benzoate. ... Read more...

Polymer-mesoporous silica materials templated with an oppositely charged surfactant/polymer system for drug delivery.

30 Aug 2009 In this paper, polymer-mesoporous silica nanoparticles have been synthesized by a dual-template technology. Cationic polymer quaternized poly[bis(2-chloroethyl)ether-alt-1,3-bis[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]urea] (PEPU) and anionic surfactant sodium ... Read more...

Effects of microinjection of angiotensin II and captopril to VTA on morphine self-administration in rats.

30 Aug 2009 The dopaminergic mesolimbic system is considered to be crucial in rewarding actions of opiates. Recent studies have suggested probable interaction between the renin-angiotensin and mesolimbic dopaminergic systems. The present study was undertaken to ... Read more...
