Catalepsy
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Catalepsy'A condition characterized by inactivity, decreased responsiveness to stimuli, and a tendency to maintain an immobile posture. The limbs tend to remain in whatever position they are placed (waxy flexibility). Catalepsy may be associated with PSYCHOTIC DISORDERS (e.g., SCHIZOPHRENIA, CATATONIC), nervous system drug toxicity, and other conditions. Common names: Catalepsy; Catalepsies; Anochlesia; Anochlesias; Cerea Flexibilitas; Flexibilitas, Cerea; Flexibility, Waxy; Flexibilities, Waxy; Waxy Flexibilities; Waxy Flexibility |

Systemic inhibition of complex I by rotenone in rats represents a model of Parkinson's disease (PD). The aim of this study was to elucidate whether neramexane (NMDA, nicotinic alpha9/alpha10 and 5-HT3 receptor antagonist), idazoxan ... Read more...

This study was aimed to determine the effect of D2/D3 receptor antagonist sulpiride on the expression of immobility reflex ("pinch-test") and pinch-induced catalepsy ("bar-test") of CBA/Lac male mice depending on their social status ("aggressors" ... Read more...

External cues, including familiar music, can release Parkinson's disease patients from catalepsy but the neural basis of the effect is not well understood. In the present study, posturography, the study of posture and its allied reflexes, was used ... Read more...
