Restriction of cisplatin induction of acute apoptosis to a subpopulation of cells in a three-dimensional carcinoma culture model.

13 Nov 2009 Cisplatin is a clinically important chemotherapeutical agent used to treat epithelial malignancies. High concentrations (20-100 microM) of cisplatin have been used in numerous studies to induce apoptosis of carcinoma cells grown in monolayer culture ... Read more...

Novel immortalized human fetal liver cell line, cBAL111, has the potential to differentiate into functional hepatocytes.

19 Oct 2009 BACKGROUND: A clonal cell line that combines both stable hepatic function and proliferation capacity is desirable for in vitro applications that depend on hepatic function, such as pharmacological or toxicological assays and bioartificial liver ... Read more...

Fluorescence optical detection in situ for real-time monitoring of cytochrome P450 enzymatic activity of liver cells in multiple microfluidic devices.

13 Oct 2009 We describe an in situ fluorescence optical detection system to demonstrate real-time and non-invasive detection of reaction products in a microfluidic device while under perfusion within a standard incubator. The detection system is designed to be ... Read more...
