Long-term prognosis of patients with large subcortical infarctions.

Sep 2009 AIM: We assessed the long-term prognosis of patients with large subcortical infarctions (LSCI). METHODS: We defined LSCI as lesions > or =15 mm confined to deep penetrating arteries without a cardioembolic or atherothrombotic source. Patients with ... Read more...

Perioperative stroke in infants undergoing open heart operations for congenital heart disease.

30 Aug 2009 BACKGROUND: The prevalence of perioperative stroke in infants undergoing operations for congenital heart disease has not been well described. The objectives of this study were to determine the prevalence of stroke as assessed by postoperative brain ... Read more...

Diffusion tensor imaging may help the determination of time at onset in cerebral ischaemia.

30 Aug 2009 BACKGROUND AND AIMS: The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and anisotropy (eg, fractional anisotropy (FA)) of ischaemic tissue evolve over time. A reduction in diffusivity (ie, lambda(2) and lambda(3)) is an important marker for characterising ... Read more...
