Research News and Information

Definition of 'Cross-Linking Reagents'

Reagents with two reactive groups, usually at opposite ends of the molecule, that are capable of reacting with and thereby forming bridges between side chains of amino acids in proteins; the locations of naturally reactive areas within proteins can thereby be identified; may also be used for other macromolecules, like glycoproteins, nucleic acids, or other.

Enhanced biological stability of collagen with incorporation of PAMAM dendrimer.

29 Sep 2009 The crosslinking methods of collagen using glutaraldehyde (GTA) and 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethyl aminopropyl) carbodiimide (EDC)/N-hydroxysuccinimide (NHS) are frequently performed in biomedical applications, but both methods still have their own ... Read more...

Cytocompatibility studies of an in situ photopolymerized thermoresponsive hydrogel nanoparticle system using human aortic smooth muscle cells.

29 Sep 2009 We have been investigating thermoresponsive hydrogel nanoparticle composite networks to develop photopolymerized hydrogels to deliver drugs for prevention of restenosis after angioplasty. These composite systems can form a gel under physiological ... Read more...

Inhibition of the c-Abl-TAp63 pathway protects mouse oocytes from chemotherapy-induced death.

25 Sep 2009 Germ cells are sensitive to genotoxins, and ovarian failure and infertility are major side effects of chemotherapy in young patients with cancer. Here we describe the c-Abl-TAp63 pathway activated by chemotherapeutic DNA-damaging drugs in model ... Read more...
