Endothelial Cells - Cytology
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Endothelial Cells'Highly specialized EPITHELIAL CELLS that line the HEART; BLOOD VESSELS; and lymph vessels, forming the ENDOTHELIUM. They are polygonal in shape and joined together by TIGHT JUNCTIONS. The tight junctions allow for variable permeability to specific macromolecules that are transported across the endothelial layer. Common names: Endothelial Cells; Cell, Endothelial; Cells, Endothelial; Endothelial Cell; Vascular Endothelial Cells; Cell, Vascular Endothelial; Cells, Vascular Endothelial; Endothelial Cell, Vascular; Endothelial Cells, Vascular; Vascular Endothelial Cell; Capillary Endothelial Cells |

Induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells, reprogrammed somatic cells with embryonic stem (ES) cell-like characteristics, are generated by the introduction of combinations of specific transcription factors. Little is known about the differentiation of ... Read more...
