RAGE expression and NF-kappaB activation attenuated by extracellular domain of RAGE in human salivary gland cell line.

30 Oct 2009 The receptor for advanced-glycation-end-products (RAGE) has been implicated as a pro-inflammatory factor in chronic inflammatory conditions such as diabetes mellitus and rheumatoid arthritis. The aim of this study was to investigate the inhibitory ... Read more...

Mast cell-derived particles deliver peripheral signals to remote lymph nodes.

3 Oct 2009 During infection, signals from the periphery are known to reach draining lymph nodes (DLNs), but how these molecules, such as inflammatory cytokines, traverse the significant distances involved without dilution or degradation remains unclear. We ... Read more...

Photodynamic treatment of culture medium containing serum induces long-lasting toxicity in vitro.

29 Sep 2009 Photodynamic therapy (PDT) produces singlet oxygen and reactive oxygen species (ROS) that damage tumor cells and the vasculature. The resulting effect is a balance between photo-oxidations through primary or secondary ROS and scavenging activity. ... Read more...
