Fibronectins - Biosynthesis
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Fibronectins'Glycoproteins found on the surfaces of cells, particularly in fibrillar structures. The proteins are lost or reduced when these cells undergo viral or chemical transformation. They are highly susceptible to proteolysis and are substrates for activated blood coagulation factor VIII. The forms present in plasma are called cold-insoluble globulins. Common names: Fibronectins; Opsonic alpha(2)SB Glycoprotein; Opsonic Glycoprotein; Glycoprotein, Opsonic; LETS Proteins; Proteins, LETS; alpha 2-Surface Binding Glycoprotein; alpha 2 Surface Binding Glycoprotein; Fibronectin; Cold-Insoluble Globulins; Cold Insoluble Globulins; Globulins, Cold-Insoluble |

We have previously shown that insulin-like growth factor (IGF) binding protein- 5 (IGFBP-5) is overexpressed in lung fibrosis and induces the production of extracellular matrix components, such as collagen and fibronectin, both in vitro and in vivo. ... Read more...
