Ischemic Attack, Transient - Drug therapy
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Ischemic Attack, Transient'Brief reversible episodes of focal, nonconvulsive ischemic dysfunction of the brain having a duration of less than 24 hours, and usually less than one hour, caused by transient thrombotic or embolic blood vessel occlusion or stenosis. Events may be classified by arterial distribution, temporal pattern, or etiology (e.g., embolic vs. thrombotic). (From Adams et al., Principles of Neurology, 6th ed, pp814-6) |

Agenesis of the right internal carotid artery and Klippel-Feil syndrome: case report.
13 Sep 2009
STUDY DESIGN: Case report. OBJECTIVE: To describe the case of a Klippel-Feil anomaly associated with carotid agenesis. SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA: Klippel-Feil anomaly is a spinal malformation characterized by fusion of the cervical vertebrae. Four ... Read more...
Population-based intervention to reduce prehospital delays in patients with cerebrovascular events.
12 Sep 2009
BACKGROUND: In patients with acute stroke, systemic thrombolysis needs to be administered within 3 hours of symptom onset. The aim of the present study was to reduce prehospital delays in a population-based intervention. METHODS: We performed a ... Read more...
Recombinant C1 inhibitor in brain ischemic injury.
30 Aug 2009
OBJECTIVE: C1 inhibitor (C1-INH) is an endogenous inhibitor of complement and kinin systems. We have explored the efficacy and the therapeutic window of the recently available human recombinant (rh) C1-INH on ischemic brain injury and investigated ... Read more...
