Research News and Information
Definition of 'Lens Subluxation'Incomplete rupture of the zonule with the displaced lens remaining behind the pupil. In dislocation, or complete rupture, the lens is displaced forward into the anterior chamber or backward into the vitreous body. When congenital, this condition is known as ECTOPIA LENTIS. Primary anterior chamber intraocular lens for the treatment of severe crystalline lens subluxation.
29 Sep 2009
Subluxated cataractous and clear lenses are commonly treated by limbal or pars plana lensectomy followed by primary or secondary intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Adjunctive capsular prosthetic devices have facilitated lens removal and IOL ... Read more...

PURPOSE: To evaluate the use of a capsule anchor to reposition and fixate the capsular bag to the scleral wall in eyes with subluxation of the crystalline lens. SETTING: Department of Ophthalmology, Meir Medical Center, Kfar-Saba, Israel. METHODS: ... Read more...
Anterior-assisted levitation for the posteriorly dislocated intraocular lens.
30 May 2009
I describe a technique to manage a subluxated crystalline lens or an in-the-bag posterior chamber intraocular lens (PC IOL) that tilts severely into the anterior or midvitreous cavity. In the absence of intervening vitreous presentation, a 27-gauge ... Read more...
