Definition of 'Magnetic Resonance Imaging'

Non-invasive method of demonstrating internal anatomy based on the principle that atomic nuclei in a strong magnetic field absorb pulses of radiofrequency energy and emit them as radiowaves which can be reconstructed into computerized images. The concept includes proton spin tomographic techniques.

Kinetic curves of malignant lesions are not consistent across MRI systems: need for improved standardization of breast dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI acquisition.

30 Aug 2009 OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study was to compare MRI kinetic curve data acquired with three systems in the evaluation of malignant lesions of the breast. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The cases of 601 patients with 682 breast lesions (185 benign, 497 ... Read more...

Neurosurgical management of spinal dysraphism and neurogenic scoliosis.

30 Jul 2009 STUDY DESIGN: To review diagnosis and treatment of neurogenic factors implicated in the development of progressive scoliosis. OBJECTIVE: Increased awareness of neurogenic causes as a contributing component of spinal cord tethering has led to ... Read more...

Automatic quality assessment in structural brain magnetic resonance imaging.

30 Jul 2009 MRI has evolved into an important diagnostic technique in medical imaging. However, reliability of the derived diagnosis can be degraded by artifacts, which challenge both radiologists and automatic computer-aided diagnosis. This work proposes a ... Read more...
