Definition of 'Movement'

The act, process, or result of passing from one place or position to another. It differs from LOCOMOTION in that locomotion is restricted to the passing of the whole body from one place to another, while movement encompasses both locomotion but also a change of the position of the whole body or any of its parts. Movement may be used with reference to humans, vertebrate and invertebrate animals, and microorganisms. Differentiate also from MOTOR ACTIVITY, movement associated with behavior.

Force and premature binding of ADP can regulate the processivity of individual Eg5 dimers.

14 Sep 2009 Using a high-resolution optical trapping instrument, we directly observed the processive motions of individual Eg5 dimers over a range of external loads and ATP, ADP, and phosphate concentrations. To constrain possible models for dissociation from ... Read more...

A multivalent approach to the design and discovery of orally efficacious 5-HT4 receptor agonists.

8 Sep 2009 5-HT(4) receptor agonists such as tegaserod have demonstrated efficacy in the treatment of constipation predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS-C), a highly prevalent disorder characterized by chronic constipation and impairment of intestinal ... Read more...
