Research News and Information
Definition of 'Nephritis, Interstitial'Inflammation of the interstitial tissue of the kidney. This term is generally used for primary inflammation of KIDNEY TUBULES and/or surrounding interstitium. For primary inflammation of glomerular interstitium, see GLOMERULONEPHRITIS. Infiltration of the inflammatory cells into the interstitial compartment results in EDEMA, increased spaces between the tubules, and tubular renal dysfunction. Common names: Nephritis, Interstitial; Interstitial Nephritis; Interstitial Nephritides; Nephritides, Interstitial; Nephritis, Tubulointerstitial; Nephritides, Tubulointerstitial; Tubulointerstitial Nephritides; Tubulointerstitial Nephritis |

Approach to the patient with drug allergy.
30 Jul 2009
Drug allergies are adverse drug reactions mediated by the specific immune system. Despite characteristic signs (eg, skin rash) that raise awareness for possible drug allergies, they are great imitators of disease and may hide behind unexpected ... Read more...
Clinicopathologic analysis of patients with BK viruria and rejection-like graft dysfunction.
20 Apr 2009
BK virus infection can be associated with interstitial inflammation, tubulitis without viral cytopathic effect, and negative in situ hybridization for viral DNA. We evaluated the consequences of increased immunosuppression in 32 viruric patients, ... Read more...
[Acute immuno-allergic interstitial nephritis after treatment with fluindione. Seven cases]
5 Apr 2009
We report seven cases of patients treated with fluindione, who presented with acute renal failure, associated with clinical features of allergy: poor status, fever, dyspnea, lymphadenopathy and erythroderma. All patients had elevated eosinophil ... Read more...
