Nerve Fibers, Myelinated - Radiography
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Nerve Fibers, Myelinated'A class of nerve fibers as defined by their structure, specifically the nerve sheath arrangement. The AXONS of the myelinated nerve fibers are completely encased in a MYELIN SHEATH. They are fibers of relatively large and varied diameters. Their NEURAL CONDUCTION rates are faster than those of the unmyelinated nerve fibers (NERVE FIBERS, UNMYELINATED). Myelinated nerve fibers are present in somatic and autonomic nerves. |

COMT val158met modulates association between brain white matter architecture and IQ.
3 Apr 2009
The intelligence quotient (IQ) is typically associated with the architecture of gray and white matter in specific brain regions, and this association appears to be genetically based. However, specific sources of genetic variation for the association ... Read more...

OBJECTIVE: The influence of cerebral atrophy and leukoaraiosis (LA) on the degree and profile of cognitive impairment remains unclear. DESIGN: The aim of the study was to assess neuropsychological features of cognitive performance and parameters of ... Read more...
CT perfusion quantification of small-vessel ischemic severity.
Sep 2008
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Cerebral blood flow (CBF) abnormalities are previously demonstrated in white matter disease. A gradation of change may exist between patients with mild and more severe white matter disease. An association between blood brain ... Read more...
