Projections from the accessory olfactory organ into the medial region of the olfactory bulb in the sea lamprey (Petromyzon marinus): a novel vertebrate sensory structure?

8 Sep 2009 Although four different primary olfactory pathways have been described in tetrapod vertebrates, polymorphic olfactory sensory neurons comingle in the olfactory epithelium and project axons into separate bulbar regions in teleost fish. However, ... Read more...

Stalking the everted telencephalon: comparisons of forebrain organization in basal ray-finned fishes and teleosts.

31 Aug 2009 Compared to land vertebrates and the other fishes, the basal ray-finned fishes and teleosts have morphologically unusual forebrains. The telencephalic pallium is everted, and its diencephalic inputs arise largely--not from what is clearly the dorsal ... Read more...

Histological properties of the nasal cavity and olfactory bulb of the Japanese jungle crow Corvus macrorhynchos.

18 Jul 2009 The nasal cavity and olfactory bulb (OB) of the Japanese jungle crow (Corvus macrorhynchos) were studied using computed tomography (CT) and histochemical staining. The nasal septum divided the nasal cavity in half. The anterior and maxillary conchae ... Read more...
