Perceptual Disorders - Rehabilitation
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Perceptual Disorders'Cognitive disorders characterized by an impaired ability to perceive the nature of objects or concepts through use of the sense organs. These include spatial neglect syndromes, where an individual does not attend to visual, auditory, or sensory stimuli presented from one side of the body. Common names: Perceptual Disorders; Perceptual Disorder; Somatosensory Discrimination Disorder; Discrimination Disorder, Somatosensory; Discrimination Disorders, Somatosensory; Somatosensory Discrimination Disorders; Sensory Neglect; Neglect, Sensory; Sensory Neglects; Hemisensory Neglect; Hemisensory Neglects |

Dynamic assessment and prediction of learning potential in clients with unilateral neglect.
30 Aug 2009
OBJECTIVE: We investigated the application of dynamic assessment in examining learning potential for adults with right hemisphere stroke and unilateral neglect. METHODS: Forty adults with right cerebrovascular accident were randomly assigned to a ... Read more...
Rehabilitation approaches to hemineglect.
29 Jun 2009
BACKGROUND: Hemineglect is a difficult neurologic condition to rehabilitate. It arises predominantly from right brain injury, and manifests heterogeneously in clinical deficits such as poor visual exploration to the left, inaccurate assessment of ... Read more...
20 May 2009
INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this study was to determine the longitudinal association of visuospatial hemineglect with postural imbalance in postacute stroke patients and to establish whether this relationship is confounded by other determinants. ... Read more...
