Periodontal Attachment Loss
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Periodontal Attachment Loss'Loss or destruction of periodontal tissue caused by periodontitis or other destructive periodontal diseases or by injury during instrumentation. Attachment refers to the periodontal ligament which attaches to the alveolar bone. It has been hypothesized that treatment of the underlying periodontal disease and the seeding of periodontal ligament cells enable the creating of new attachment. Factors affecting human supragingival biofilm composition. I. Plaque mass.
5 Oct 2009
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Little is known about the factors that affect the microbial composition of supragingival biofilms. This study was designed to examine the relationship between total DNA probe counts of supragingival biofilm samples, ... Read more...
Periodontal therapy improves gastric Helicobacter pylori eradication.
29 Sep 2009
The oral cavity has been proposed as a reservoir for H. pylori that could be responsible for the refractoriness of gastric infection to triple therapy (antibiotics, antimicrobials, and proton pump inhibitors). The aim of this study was to evaluate ... Read more...
Stability of the JP2 clone of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans.
30 Aug 2009
The JP2 clone of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans is strongly associated with aggressive periodontitis. To obtain information about colonization dynamics of the JP2 clone, we used PCR to examine its presence in 365 Moroccan juveniles from whom ... Read more...
