Radioimmunoassay
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Radioimmunoassay'Classic quantitative assay for detection of antigen-antibody reactions using a radioactively labeled substance (radioligand) either directly or indirectly to measure the binding of the unlabeled substance to a specific antibody or other receptor system. Non-immunogenic substances (e.g., haptens) can be measured if coupled to larger carrier proteins (e.g., bovine gamma-globulin or human serum albumin) capable of inducing antibody formation. |

Adequacy of vitamin D replacement in severe deficiency is dependent on body mass index.
30 Oct 2009
BACKGROUND: Obesity is associated with hypovitaminosis D. Whether body mass index (BMI) determines the replacement dose of vitamin D to achieve sufficiency is unclear. OBJECTIVE: To determine the relationship between BMI and serum 25-OH vitamin D ... Read more...

OBJECTIVES: This study was designed to evaluate the impact of eplerenone on collagen turnover in preserved systolic function heart failure (HFPSF). BACKGROUND: Despite growing interest in abnormal collagen metabolism as a feature of HFPSF with ... Read more...

Nociceptive stimulation elicits neuroendocrine responses such as arginine vasopressin (AVP) release as well as activation of the hypothalamo-pituitary-adrenal axis. We have generated novel transgenic rats expressing an AVP-enhanced green fluorescent ... Read more...
