Receptor, Fibroblast Growth Factor, Type 2 - Genetics
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Receptor, Fibroblast Growth Factor, Type 2'A fibroblast growth factor receptor that is found in two isoforms. One receptor isoform is found in the MESENCHYME and is activated by FIBROBLAST GROWTH FACTOR 2. A second isoform of fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 is found mainly in EPITHELIAL CELLS and is activated by FIBROBLAST GROWTH FACTOR 7 and FIBROBLAST GROWTH FACTOR 10. Mutation of the gene for fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 can result in APERT SYNDROME. |

Recently, 2 genome-wide association studies demonstrated that single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) gene at intron 2 are significantly associated with the risk of female breast cancer. As the next ... Read more...
Selective activation of FGFR4 by an FGF19 variant does not improve glucose metabolism in ob/ob mice.
10 Aug 2009
FGF19 is a hormone that regulates bile acid and glucose homeostasis. Progress has been made in identifying cofactors for receptor activation. However, several functions of FGF19 have not yet been fully defined, including the actions of FGF19 on ... Read more...
Tyrosine kinase inhibition: Ligand binding and conformational change in c-Kit and c-Abl.
2 Aug 2009
The conformational flexibility exhibited by protein kinases poses an enormous challenge to the design of cancer therapeutics. Additionally the high degree of structural conservation within the kinase superfamily often leads to inhibitors that ... Read more...
