Receptor, Serotonin, 5-HT2C - Agonists
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Receptor, Serotonin, 5-HT2C'A serotonin receptor subtype found primarily in the CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM and the CHOROID PLEXUS. This receptor subtype is believed to mediate the anorectic action of SEROTONIN, while selective antagonists of the 5-HT2C receptor appear to induce ANXIETY. Several isoforms of this receptor subtype exist, due to adenine deaminase editing of the receptor mRNA. Common names: Receptor, Serotonin, 5-HT2C; 5-HT2C Receptor; 5 HT2C Receptor; Receptor, 5-HT2C; 5-Hydroxytryptamine Type 2C Receptor; 5 Hydroxytryptamine Type 2C Receptor; Serotonin 2C Receptor; 2C Receptor, Serotonin; Receptor, Serotonin 2C; 5-Hydroxytryptamine Type 2C Receptors |

Control of the mesoaccumbens dopamine (DA) pathway by central serotonin(2C) receptors (5-HT(2C)Rs) involves different 5-HT(2C)R populations located within multiple brain areas. Here, using in vivo microdialysis in halothane-anesthetized rats, we ... Read more...

NOR1, Nur77 and Nurr1 are orphan nuclear receptors and members of the NR4A subfamily. Here, we report that the expression of hypothalamic NOR1 was remarkably decreased in mildly obese beta-endorphin-deficient mice and obese db/db mice with the ... Read more...
