Receptors, Adrenergic, alpha-2 - Drug effects
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Receptors, Adrenergic, alpha-2'A subclass of alpha-adrenergic receptors (RECEPTORS, ADRENERGIC, ALPHA). alpha-2 Adrenergic receptors can be pharmacologically discriminated, e.g., by their high affinity for the agonist clonidine and the antagonist yohimbine. They are found on pancreatic beta cells, platelets, and VASCULAR SMOOTH MUSCLE, as well as both pre- and postsynaptically in the central and peripheral nervous systems. Common names: Receptors, Adrenergic, alpha-2; Adrenergic Receptor, alpha-2; Adrenergic Receptor, alpha 2; Receptor, alpha-2 Adrenergic; alpha-2 Adrenergic Receptor; Receptors, alpha-2 Adrenergic; Receptors, alpha 2 Adrenergic; alpha-2 Adrenergic Receptors; Adrenergic Receptors, alpha-2 |

Gastroprotective effect of lupeol on ethanol-induced gastric damage and the underlying mechanism.
14 Jul 2009
The effect of lupeol, a natural pentacyclic triterpene on ethanol-induced gastric damage in mice was evaluated. The gastroprotection was assessed by determination of changes in mean gastric lesion area, quantification of mucosal non-protein ... Read more...

In this article, the authors discuss the pharmacology of sedative-analgesic agents like dexmedetomidine, remifentanil, ketamine, and volatile anesthetics. Dexmedetomidine is a highly selective alpha-2 agonist that provides anxiolysis and cooperative ... Read more...
23 Jun 2009
Adrenergic agonists, through activation of intestinal epithelial alpha2-adrenergic receptors (alpha2AR), inhibit electrolyte secretion and promote absorption. The mechanisms of action to promote basal Na(+) absorption and inhibit stimulated ... Read more...
