Receptors, Cholinergic - Chemistry
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Receptors, Cholinergic'Cell surface proteins that bind acetylcholine with high affinity and trigger intracellular changes influencing the behavior of cells. Cholinergic receptors are divided into two major classes, muscarinic and nicotinic, based originally on their affinity for nicotine and muscarine. Each group is further subdivided based on pharmacology, location, mode of action, and/or molecular biology. Common names: Receptors, Cholinergic; Receptors, Acetylcholine; Cholinoceptive Sites; Sites, Cholinoceptive; Receptors, ACh; Cholinergic Receptors; ACh Receptors; Acetylcholine Receptors; Cholinoceptors |

Crystal structure of the frizzled-like cysteine-rich domain of the receptor tyrosine kinase MuSK.
2 Aug 2009
Muscle-specific kinase (MuSK) is an essential receptor tyrosine kinase for the establishment and maintenance of the neuromuscular junction (NMJ). Activation of MuSK by agrin, a neuronally derived heparan-sulfate proteoglycan, and LRP4 (low-density ... Read more...
Energy and structure of the M2 helix in acetylcholine receptor-channel gating.
18 May 2009
We studied single-channel currents from neuromuscular acetylcholine receptor-channels with mutations in the pore-lining, M2 helix of the epsilon-subunit. Three parameters were quantified: 1), the diliganded gating equilibrium constant (E(2)), which ... Read more...
