Double dissociation and hierarchical organization of strategy switches and reversals in the rat PFC.

29 Sep 2009 Prelimbic-infralimbic cortex (PL-IL) and orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) influence behavioral flexibility in the rat. The authors tested the effects of PL-IL or OFC infusion with the GABA agonist muscimol in the context of 2 flexible responding tasks: ... Read more...

Spatial discrimination reversal learning in weanling rats is impaired by striatal administration of an NMDA-receptor antagonist.

25 Aug 2009 The striatum plays a major role in both motor control and learning and memory, including executive function and "behavioral flexibility." Lesion, temporary inactivation, and infusion of an N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA)-receptor antagonist into the ... Read more...

Management of sleep/wake cycles improves cognitive function in a transgenic mouse model of Huntington's disease.

16 May 2009 Normally, mice sleep during the day and are active at night. In Huntington's disease mice (R6/2 line) this circadian pattern disintegrates progressively over the course of their illness. Cognitive decline and apathy in R6/2 mice can be improved with ... Read more...
