RNA, Ribosomal - Genetics
Research News and Information
Definition of 'RNA, Ribosomal'The most abundant form of RNA. Together with proteins, it forms the ribosomes, playing a structural role and also a role in ribosomal binding of mRNA and tRNAs. Individual chains are conventionally designated by their sedimentation coefficients. In eukaryotes, four large chains exist, synthesized in the nucleolus and constituting about 50% of the ribosome. (Dorland, 28th ed) Common names: RNA, Ribosomal; Ribosomal RNA; 15S RNA; RNA, 15S |

Mg(2+) homeostasis is important for Salmonella pathogenesis. In Salmonella enterica, the transcription of the mgtA gene, which encodes a Mg(2+) transporter, is regulated by a Mg(2+)-sensing riboswitch [Cromie MJ, Shi Y, Latifi T, Groisman EA (2006) ... Read more...
