Death in a toddler following endosulfan ingestion.
30 Oct 2009
INTRODUCTION: Endosulfan, an organochlorine insecticide widely used in agriculture, is rapidly absorbed following ingestion, inhalation, or skin exposure. Poisonings rarely result in morbidity and mortality. Symptoms occur rapidly following exposure ... Read more...
Nerve growth factor attenuates proliferation of astrocytes via the p75 neurotrophin receptor.
29 Sep 2009
The p75 neurotrophin receptor has been implicated in the regulation of multiple cellular functions that differ depending on the cell context. We have observed that p75(NTR) is strongly induced on astrocytes as well as neurons in the hippocampal CA3 ... Read more...
The electrocortical effects of enflurane: experiment and theory.
29 Sep 2009
BACKGROUND: High concentrations of enflurane will induce a characteristic electroencephalogram pattern consisting of periods of suppression alternating with large short paroxysmal epileptiform discharges (PEDs). In this study, we compared a ... Read more...
