Spermatozoa - Enzymology
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Spermatozoa'Mature male germ cells derived from SPERMATIDS. As spermatids move toward the lumen of the SEMINIFEROUS TUBULES, they undergo extensive structural changes including the loss of cytoplasm, condensation of CHROMATIN into the SPERM HEAD, formation of the ACROSOME cap, the SPERM MIDPIECE and the SPERM TAIL that provides motility. Common names: Spermatozoa; Spermatozoon; Sperm; Y-Chromosome-Bearing Sperm; Sperm, Y-Chromosome-Bearing; Sperms, Y-Chromosome-Bearing; Y Chromosome Bearing Sperm; Y-Chromosome-Bearing Sperms; Y-Bearing Sperm; Sperm, Y-Bearing; Sperms, Y-Bearing; Y Bearing Sperm; Y-Bearing Sperms; X-Chromosome-Bearing Sperm |

To evaluate the association between neutral alpha-glucosidase (NAG) activity and sperm DNA fragmentation (DFI), ejaculates from 24 men undergoing evaluation for sperm DNA damage as a part of infertility assessment were analysed. The mean +/- SD and ... Read more...
A new role of anandamide in human sperm: focus on metabolism.
29 Sep 2009
The endocannabinoid system and the presence of CB1 receptor (CB1-R) target of the anandamide were identified in human sperm, however the anandamide action in this context needs to be further elucidated. At this purpose we analyzed the effects of ... Read more...
