T-Lymphocytes - Immunology
Research News and Information
Definition of 'T-Lymphocytes'Lymphocytes responsible for cell-mediated immunity. Two types have been identified - cytotoxic (T-LYMPHOCYTES, CYTOTOXIC) and helper T-lymphocytes (T-LYMPHOCYTES, HELPER-INDUCER). They are formed when lymphocytes circulate through the THYMUS GLAND and differentiate to thymocytes. When exposed to an antigen, they divide rapidly and produce large numbers of new T cells sensitized to that antigen. Common names: T-Lymphocytes; T Lymphocytes; T-Lymphocyte; T-Cells; T Cells; T-Cell; Thymus-Dependent Lymphocytes; Lymphocyte, Thymus-Dependent; Lymphocytes, Thymus-Dependent; Thymus Dependent Lymphocytes; Thymus-Dependent Lymphocyte |

The shared tumor associated antigen cyclin-A2 is recognized by high-avidity T-cells.
13 Nov 2009
Cyclin-A2, a key cell cycle regulator, has been shown to be overexpressed in various types of malignancies with little expression in normal tissue. Such tumor-associated genes potentially are useful targets for cancer immunotherapy. However, ... Read more...
Vaccination against HPV-16 oncoproteins for vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia.
3 Nov 2009
BACKGROUND: Vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia is a chronic disorder caused by high-risk types of human papillomavirus (HPV), most commonly HPV type 16 (HPV-16). Spontaneous regression occurs in less than 1.5% of patients, and the rate of recurrence ... Read more...

Cell surface expression of MHC class I molecules by tumor cells is determinant in the interplay between tumor cells and the immune system. Nevertheless, the mechanisms which regulate MHCI expression on tumor cells are not clear. We previously showed ... Read more...
