Testosterone - Metabolism
Research News and Information
Definition of 'Testosterone'A potent androgenic steroid and major product secreted by the LEYDIG CELLS of the TESTIS. Its production is stimulated by LUTEINIZING HORMONE from the PITUITARY GLAND. In turn, testosterone exerts feedback control of the pituitary LH and FSH secretion. Depending on the tissues, testosterone can be further converted to DIHYDROTESTOSTERONE or ESTRADIOL. Common names: Testosterone; 17-beta-Hydroxy-4-Androsten-3-one; 17 beta Hydroxy 4 Androsten 3 one; Androtop; Dr. Kade Brand of Testosterone; Histerone; Hauck Brand of Testosterone; Sterotate; Ulmer Brand of Testosterone; Sustanon; Androderm; Watson Brand of Testosterone; Faulding Brand of Testosterone |

Anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) can promote detrimental effects on social behaviors for which GABA type A (GABA(A)) receptor-mediated circuits in the forebrain play a critical role. While all AAS bind to androgen receptors (AR), they may also be ... Read more...
Effects of morphine on testosterone levels in rat C6 glioma cells: modulation by anastrozole.
29 Sep 2009
Rat C6 glioma cells are commonly used to investigate the functions of glial cells. To evaluate the presence of testosterone and its metabolism in rat C6 glioma cells, we cultured them in media with or without the addition of testosterone propionate ... Read more...
Testosterone and unconscious positive priming increase human motivation separately.
21 Sep 2009
Clinical observations suggest that testosterone generates unconscious broad-spectrum motivations to act. It has also been suggested that subliminal positive-priming techniques also unconsciously enhances motivation for action. This ... Read more...
