Ubiquitin-Protein Ligases - Metabolism
Research News and Information

Definition of 'Ubiquitin-Protein Ligases'

A diverse class of enzymes that interact with UBIQUITIN-CONJUGATING ENZYMES and ubiquitination-specific protein substrates. Each member of this enzyme group has its own distinct specificity for a substrate and ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme. Ubiquitin-protein ligases exist as both monomeric proteins multiprotein complexes.

Common names: Ubiquitin-Protein Ligases; Ligases, Ubiquitin-Protein; Ubiquitin Protein Ligases; Ubiquitin-Protein Ligase E3; Ligase E3, Ubiquitin-Protein; Ubiquitin Protein Ligase E3; Ubiquitin Ligase E3; E3, Ubiquitin Ligase; Ligase E3, Ubiquitin; Ubiquitin-Protein Ligase; Ligase, Ubiquitin-Protein

Carcinoma of the breast with medullary-like features: diagnostic challenges and relationship with BRCA1 and EZH2 functions.

30 Oct 2009 This case presentation reviews the histologic distinction between pure medullary carcinoma and breast carcinomas with medullary-like features. This particular case prompts us to analyze the relationship among medullary carcinoma, basal-like breast ... Read more...

Inactivation of Notch signaling in the renal collecting duct causes nephrogenic diabetes insipidus in mice.

10 Oct 2009 The heterogeneous cellular composition of the mammalian renal collecting duct enables regulation of fluid, electrolytes, and acid-base homeostasis, but the molecular mechanism of its development has yet to be elucidated. The Notch signaling pathway ... Read more...

The BRCA1-dependent ubiquitin ligase, gamma-tubulin, and centrosomes.

29 Sep 2009 Mutation of the breast and ovarian cancer specific tumor suppressor, BRCA1, results in supernumerary and hyperactive centrosomes, which in turn likely contribute to the aneuploidy evident in breast cancer cells. The BRCA1-dependent ubiquitin ligase ... Read more...
